Y.E.S. 2.0 Rules

Eligibility:

The Y.E.S. 2.0 online business plan competition is open to current students in grades 9-12 throughout Arkansas. Students can compete individually or as teams with up to six members.

Teacher Advisor / Approved Sponsor:

All students and teams must be sponsored by a 9th – 12th grade teacher who is not a parent of any team member. An individual outside of the school that is not a parent or relative can be a sponsor, subject to approval by the Arkansas Economic Acceleration Foundation (AEAF). Please notify AEAF by e-mailing a request to info_aeaf@arcapital.com. Teacher advisors/approved sponsors may represent more than one team. Because the competition is conducted completely online at iStart.org, all teacher advisors/approved sponsors must have an iStart account. Click here for instructions on how to create new or use existing iStart accounts.

Intents-to-Compete:

Teacher advisors/approved sponsors must submit an “Intent-to-Compete” for each individual and/or team by 5:00 p.m. on January 31, 2014. Click here for instructions on how to submit Intents to Compete on iStart.

Team Size:

Team sizes are limited to 6 members.

Original Work:

The business plan must represent original work of each individual and team. Arkansas Economic Acceleration Foundation recommends that teacher advisors/approved sponsors provide guidance throughout the process. All Y.E.S. 2.0 participants are expected to conduct themselves in an ethical manner.

Business Plan:

Business plans submitted must be for a new product or service. The business must be for-profit; non-profit organizations are not eligible. The product or service may not be fictional in nature. The business plan must address all aspects of the business; and include the following sections

  • cover page
  • executive summary
  • company overview
  • product or service description
  • management team
  • innovation and creativity
  • market and competitive analysis
  • critical risks
  • financials

See “Evaluation Guidelines” for more information. An individual competitor or a team may only submit one plan in the competition. The business plan can be no longer than 15 pages of typed text with 12-point font. The cover page is not counted as part of the 15 pages.

Submitting the Plan:

All business plans must be uploaded to iStart by 5:00 p.m. Friday, February 28. The business plan must be uploaded in Microsoft Word or PDF. Please ensure all pages of the business plan have been uploaded. Click here for instructions on how to submit a business plan.
